File under #fashiongirlproblems: Sometimes, it’s tough to decide what bag you want to carry. There's the ladylike shoulder bag, which is perfect for putting the finishing touch on your put-together #girlboss look or counterbalancing a sporty, menswear-inspired outfit. Then there's the trusty cross-body for when you want a breezier, more modern touch that also leaves your hands and arms unfettered to effortlessly drink your morning latte or Snapchat on the way to the office. (And it's always a good idea to even out your posture so you're not always tilting to your dominant handbag-carrying side like you're an extra from The Walking Dead.) Decisions, decisions.
But, leave it to fall/winter 2016 collections during Fashion Month to bring us the best of both worlds: Wear your shoulder bag as a cross-body. Huh. So genius, yet totally obvious. And, as they say, three makes a trend—especially when it's designer-approved.

In New York, Proenza Schouler presented its chain-link strapped fold-over flap bags almost like diagonally worn statement necklaces (pictured, bottom left), and Theory contrasted a creamy palette with a dark shearling-strapped saddle bag (top left). Over in London, Anya Hindmarch layered a floral-embellished, wide-strap saddle bag over a plush camel cocoon coat (bottom right), and—just in!—Gucci's Alessandro Michele found the most unexpectedly cool way to showcase the classic striping on a bamboo top-handle bag in Milan (top right).
We wouldn't be surprised if the abbreviated cross-body made appearances in Paris, too. Either way, we have to say it's a fresh new way to wear the shoulder bags you already have in your closet.
